I'd rewire your entire system....100% correctly, if you did indeed shoot yourself in the neck. Wouldn't the pain, and probable death, be worth knowing that your system was installed correctly, instead of by someone who seems to believe every car audio myth he's ever heard.

well i will have to run 2 strands of wire from each amp output to be able to power the 4 sets of comps off of the 4 channel amp.

I still have some 7 gauge lying around if you wanted to buy some. That way you wouldn't have to waste money on 2x the 14 gauge.
