whats nice equalizer for around 75$?

Are you wanting a parametric EQ or a graphic unit?

Do you have any preference on how many bands it has regardless of what type you're after? Do you want it to be a 1/2 DIN or full-DIN unit?

And yes, they go between the head unit and your amp(s).

Ive been told that no question is stupid if asked in sincerity, so... Whats the difference between parametric and graphic EQ's? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

And whoever told you that was entirely correct. How else to learn if you don't ask, right?

Couresy of CrutchfieldAdvisor.com:
Parametric EQ

Parametric equalization or tone controls allow you to set not only the amount in dB by which a certain frequency band is boost or cut, but also the width and/or center frequency of this band. This gives you extremely precise control of the tonal balance in your vehicle. Parametric equalizers are more versatile than graphic equalizers, which have fixed center frequencies and bandwidths.

Graphic EQ

A graphic, or passive, EQ is the standard type of equalizer that usually has 5 to 12 slider controls on the face. These sliders let you boost or cut certain frequencies, giving you a high level of control over the tonal quality of your music. The width of each band is fixed and cannot be adjusted (unlike a Parametric EQ).

A parametric offers more precise adjustments within the bands it offers but that isn't to say that a graphic EQ isn't perfectly capable of doing what you need it to do. It all depends on the needs/wants of the individual. A PEQ is going to be more difficult to dial-in as it has more varied adjustments and for the novice user it could be a bit overwhelming.
As far as 1/2-DIN and full-DIN goes.....a regular, average aftermarket head unit has what is known as a single(full)-DIN chassis. Your average Kenwood, alpine, Pioneer, Eclipse, whatever-brand unit falls into this size category.

A full-DIN EQ would require the same amount of mounting space as a normal head unit such as this unit by Kenwood:

A 1/2-DIN EQ is going to need about as much depth behind the mounting location but only 1/2 of the height of your average head unit such as this one, also from Kenwood:

If that suits your needs then go for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
and i was wondering is a line driver worth anything. i meen i understand increasing the signal volts so u can turn your gains lower but anything else?
I've never used one so I cannot speak with any degree of certainty whether they are worth the investment or not. Hopefully someone with some knowledge on the subject will chime in for you.

i would dish out 30 more dolalrs for a used audiocontrol EQX for 9 more bands of adjustment..

oh yea, and the EQX is not just an EQ and crossover in one; it's also got a line driver..
