But you don't know that. I'm simply throwing out that option if he's looking for a spl/competiton setup...if he actually stated some kind of goal/preference, I'd suggest differently...or maybe the same, depending on what he wants.

After re-reading what the OP posted, it kinda sounds like he is trying to "beat" someone else'e setup of someone he knows. Thats already not a great plan of attack on building a setup, however I do suppose it adds motivation to go out and work for the cash to build something.

Usually if some kid comes up to me asking a "starting point" on building a setup I suggest them getting some Type R's and enough power to feed them well. That way if they can get that at least somewhat loud on the meter then they probably have the skills and reasoning to know what to buy next for their setup. If they dont get that far, they probably never will.

What kind of vehcile do you have? What are your long term goals? Do you want to just be a street beater or want to do well on a meter?

Since you're in Louisville, you should at least attend one of the E-town car audio events that way you can see what other people who are serious are doing with their equipment.

There is alot better than a T2, but you can get just as loud with something less than the price of a T2. In car audio, you'll learn that "better than" doesnt mean much - its how you apply your equipment is what matters.

just throw a couple of Type R 12's in a prefab in there with a sundown 1500, and at least one extra battery. That should be enough to stomp most of the kids running around in da ville.

Seriously though, most people running around in Louisville have a couple of MTX 7500's and a volfenhag amp. Some ARGGGH's would be a definate advantage over the tards around here.
