What's better for the amp

Gain is more important than the bass boost. Set gain to the appropriate output voltage (match the RMS of your drivers) then adjust bass boost to what you desire. Bass boost is like a loudness switch I think(?) Loudness switches were created in hifi amps because bass is difficult to hear at very low volumes, Loudness helps you hear bass a little better at low volumes (and was intended with low volume only in mind).

OK let me get this straight I have a brz 1700.1d but I'm running it at 2ohm's they clam 1200 rms so I times that by 2ohm's = 2400 then I √ that 48.98xxxx so with the dmm I set my gain to read 48 or maybe 47.8 or so?????

Typically you want to avoid using bass boost because it'll clip the sub.

But if the math comes out to 48.98, I'd set the gains to 48.9.
