which is better for your subs, amp and electrical setups? .5ohm or 2ohm. just curious as to what everyone thinks.
ok. someone was telling me that running your subs at higher impedence shortens the life of them. is that true?Depends. Obviously if the amp isn't 0.5Ohm stable then 2Ohm would be better. Neither is better than the other, per say, one option just puts out more power than the other.
Why don't you do 1.5 ohms?yeah 1 ohm would be good, but if im asking about .5 or 2 then 1 would be impossible
wow you are smartMeh, on paper it makes sense. More resistance means more heat, and heat damages most things.
Go run 1000W through a sub @ 1Ohm. Run it through again @ 4Ohm. Measure the temperatures. There is no more heat created in the sub woofer by adding impedance. It just lowers how much power it gets. .5 will get louder but will have more distortion while 2 ohms is quieter but will sound cleaner.
Definitely not trueok. someone was telling me that running your subs at higher impedence shortens the life of them. is that true?
