What wrong with bluetooth audio.....

wondering.... wouldn't this all be dependent on the recording first? wouldn't some sort of lossless format be better to start with? I have an Alpine BT radio at work that plays from my iPhone via BT just fine. I can't hear or measure a difference in any sound between BT and 3.5mm.

For what it's worth all my attempts started from same recording, then I used the different applications to play through the radio. Iphone to USB has very noticeable poor quality.

USB cable to phone does not count as a digital signal unless you have a digital to analog converter overriding apple's internal DAC, it might as well have the same quality as an auxiliary chord. Just use flash drives instead.

Hey i'm starting to learn a few things about this, thanks for the reply. Do people do this, is it common? Link to what I need to override the DAC in the phone? My local stereo shop said I needed some type of proprietary wiring thing to the back of the head unit, I don't know wtf he was talking about.

not sure if your head unit is capable of doing what he's talking about but neo_styles already answered some ways of doing it

Because the internal DACs on iDevices are pretty much crap. There's a list on Crutchfield of all the 2012-13 units that have iPod DAC bypasses (80PRS and a bunch of other models are on there). Or you can spend $100 and get a Pure i20 which features a beast of a DAC and iPod bypass. Try to find the units with Burr-Brown or Wolfson DACs at resolutions of 24-bit or higher.
