What would you do (RE Audio SX vs. SE)?

SX or SE with 600 watts?

Buy the better sub, and power it with what you have. Later on you can upgrade your amp. 600 watts rms is not going to underpower any subwoofer period. Just because a sub is rated to a certain wattage doesn't mean that is exactly what it has to have. Most published ratings are max wattage in the correct enclosure.

Except when its specified to be the 'rms' of the speaker. Besides, sx's are known to take 1.5kw daily easy, and don't mind it.

I'm not calling you a lier or anything, but I do understand the suggestion with regard to looking at upgrades in the future. Don't forget that speakers that'll handle higher rms will tend to have stiffer and more spiders and such, and that although a (just for example) 2kw rms BTL will get moving off of 1kw, a 1kw rms bl would be better as its made for that power and will be more efficient and louder (probably) on the same.

Still arguable though, depends on whether or he plans to upgrade in the future or not

The SE sounds much better than the SX, plain and simple and seeing as the SX would be drastically underpowed, the SE could even sound louder off the same power. Dont quote me on that but Im just saying "could"

whats the max power a 12 in. se can take?
The max RMS that I could reccomend to someone with a SE would be 800-1000w per sub.

As an actual MAX power, as wally world subs state it, it'll prolly take a max of like 10kw for 0.00001 sec before it blows
