Ok I took a bunch of pictures. My trunk is a lot weirder shaped than I thought. And I've never really built a box before. If I'm missing anything let me know. As for my measurements. When I say small I mean the small back area and when I say large I mean the large front area.

Floor (From trunk opening to seat) - 43 1/2 inches

Width (Small) - 39 1/2 inches

Height (Small) - 14 1/2 inches

Width (Large) - 62 inches

Height (Large) - 21 inches

ok, what is the size of the box? did you ask him what size he built it to BEFORE you paid him? you're acting like ignorance trumps here, which is not how it works.

I paid him before the box was built because of his reputation on here.

These are the measurements he gave me:

38"wide x 17"tall x 18-1/2"deep.

I will measure the box when I get a chance. It is at my parents house.

did you then take that out to your car and make sure it would fit?

Nope. Guess I didn't have the time and figured he knew what he was doing. It was a mistake on my part that I'm paying for by not having a box, but I don't think I should pay for it all.

he should pay because you were negligent? he built it within your measurements. you gave him the wrong measurements, so he is not liable IMHO.

I agree. Its your car, its your job to measure everything and make sure it fits. Its not like he has the car right in front of him and is building it to fit in there.. You gave him the measurements.

Lol ok guy. Thanks. I don't agree, nor do a lot of others. I was an amateur taking measurements. The expert should have asked for those extra measurements IMHO

Alot of others dont agree? Maybe i missed some posts but i think almost everyone said that if he built it to your measurements, its your fault.

thats like going and buying a tv, then getting it home and realizing it's too big to fit thru the door. and then blaming it on the guy that sold you the tv.

Why would it be my fault? I'm not building the box guy nor have I ever built one. I trusted his knowledge.

You didn't leave your car off at a shop. You paid for a very specific, custom piece that you were to install...given that part, it's on you to provide all the relevant information needed.
