Problem with new subs

hey all just bought 2 15" kicker cvrs in a ported box. hooked em up today to listen and i was not at all impressed, almost no low bass response the subs would be moving like theyd be real loud but there would be no output, higher bass notes hit better but still not impressed. Nothing was shaking, i had 1 12" fi q with everything the same and that shook a lot more. Im guessing its the box, it does not look designed well. The dimensions are 42x18x18. Anybody have any other ideas or am i right about it being the box?

check the polarity. if the subs are out of phase they will cancel out & subs will move alot w/ very little output. it will also sound kind of a hollow is the only way i know to describe it.

whats polarity and how do you check it? hollow sounding sounds pretty right.

disconnect one of the subs & reverse the + & -. only one of them.

yup i had accidently put the - in the + o in one because my speaker wires are identical but i wasnt thinking that was the problem at first because they were moving right. thanks again! also does anyone know what type of screws are needed on amps to hold the speaker wire because i am missing one?

glad i could help. on the screws it depends on the amp. some amps have the screws w/ wide square washers attached & some use allen set screws.

just compare the screws that remain in the amp and go to the hardware store to get something that is simliar
