What would you do if you were me?

I paid for a custom box on June 5th to someone on these forums. It took till the 26th of June to get the box. The box didn't fit and was way too big for my trunk. I gave him all the proper measurements and specifically told him if he needed any others to let me know that I had never really built a box before. I would assume asking about the trunk opening would have been a good idea, but he never did. So it didn't fit. We basically worked out an agreement that I would try and sell the box on here, he would get the money for it, but in the meantime he would build me a new box and ship it. This was worked out on June 28th. It is now July 15 and still no box. I was told today he got kicked out his shop and will not be able to build the box, but is trying to find someone and then maybe they could build it as soon as his other one sells, which is bullshit to me. I feel like I have gotten ****ed here. I paid good money and still don't have a box I can use over a month later. I'm not trying to bad mouth this person and some of you know who I'm talking about. But what am I supposed to do here? I'm thinking of filing something with pay pal as well.

sorry to say but it is your own fault for not considering the trunk opening size. Was the box within the size restraints you originally gave him?

filing with paypal is gonna be useless b/c as long as he provides shipping info from the first box, paypal is gonna wipe their hands clean of the transaction. maybe next time you'll give your business to a local reputable shop. sure you'll pay more but that more includes piece of mind and convience.

Why would it be my fault? I'm not building the box guy nor have I ever built one. I trusted his knowledge.
And I would definitely split costs at this point for shipping, but I am not paying for new material.

Not everyone has a local shop that will do custom boxes.... I'm sure he didn't want a crappy prefab, hence him buying one on here.

PayPal won't do anything for you. You paid for a box, he sent you a box, the transaction was clean so PayPal can't do anything about it. It's gonna come down to who the seller is and how he feels he should handle it.

I agree with whoever said earlier that he should build you a new box, and you guys should split the shipping.

Or, he can build you a new box, and you ship him the old one / he ships you the new one. Then he can sell the old box again, and you only have to spend a bit more money to get it shipped back to him so nobody really loses too much..

I know there is good people here that can built up some pretty nice enclosures, But me personally I would much rather do a transaction like this local..

Too many varibles that can go wrong, Yes you might have to pay a tad more at a shop but atleast you do not have to wait or worry about the spec's being wrong and if they are the shop will fix it and you might be out a day or 2 not a month or more.

Again I know there are a few good guy's here that build and ship enclosures successfully.

Good luck!

Prolly cuz its YOUR car and its YOUR responsibility to measure your shit right and make sure its going to fit. Your the one that gave him the measurements of what you wanted. He built it, sent it to you. You didnt make sure if fit. How would he know how big the trunk opening is on YOUR car?

Was the box within the size restraints you originally gave him?
but did he build it to your given measurements?
That's what I was thinking.Who built it?What are the measurements

can answer that as soon as you answer our question... did he build it to your given measurements? if so, you are at fault. if not, then thats his fck up. he is not responsible to ask you if you considered the trunk opening, seeing as you gave him the measurements.

you told him a size to build it to and he did right? If the box does not fit due to it being different from the size you told him then It would be his fault. getting the box in the trunk is not his problem.
