What would sound better?????

which of these setups would sound better, I'm going more for SPL then for SQ. One 12" rockford fosgate hx2 in a SEALED box or one 10" rockford fosgate hx2 in a PORTED box?? Both are 500W RMS and 1000W peak. I'm just wondering because I'm really tight on space that i can sacrifice for a box and was thinking that a ported box for a 12" would be TOO big. Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.
