BUT- seeing as how you haven't, I'd say any commentary on your part is nothing more than heresay and second hand information, not to be taken as fact or anything more than guesswork. Since you haven't had them, never heard them, never done anything with them but ordered them, I'll quit here, as your support for the woofer is nothing more than vaporware... Feel free to get pissed off at me, I don't mind, as all I asked was a few questions on the unit.

(perhaps the reason I've asked is because I've been given three sets of t/s parameters now, from three different people, all of them are very different, yet are supposed to be the *same* subwoofer... I was hoping that you actually had one and could help me get things squared away, so that I'm not flying blindly when mine shows... but given your attitude, which is rather childish, I'd say the attempt was lost... please lose the chip on your shoulder, I'm not after you)

The T/S parameters are finally on the website. However, the recommended box sizes, etc... are not.

And the same to you involving the W7, you have never heard them, but just because you feel that it is JL's top of the line sub, it just does not make sense to you that it sucks. You will be the first to know when I install the subs, and you will DEFINITLY be the first to know about the numbers. Its all based on opinions my friend, until you get down to the numbers. Then we will see...

Thank you... I tried about a week ago to see them and they weren't there, I'm going to check them out and compare them with the 3 sets I have on my desk and figure out which is which...

Well, I'm with ya RangerMan. Good to see adventurous souls try new stuff out. Try to be as objective as possible when ya tell us how it sounds! If the specs are on the site are true about the XXX drivers, they are sort of similar to Brahmas. And, if that xmax of 38mm is true, holy crap, watch out. And yeah, I did see the raving people on termpro about how the XXX had huge spl and sq to go with it -- I hope you will experience the same too.

Sorry, but I have several well trusted people that tell me the exact opposite of your "it sucks" comment, some of which have had more listening time in drivers and acoustics than I will amass for the next 30 years... This alone, backed by their experience in the industry and acoustics, along with well documented reports on the woofer, tell me that just "it sucks" makes me think something else was flawed in the installation of the woofer, other than just the woofer alone. Yes, the price is rather high, but that doesn't make the woofer garbage at all.

Seeing as how you cannot offer any other commentary on the woofer other than it sucks, I find the logic behind it all flawed to an extreme. I find that all Pyramid equipment to be garbage, but it serves a purpose to those that want to make a car fart at an excessively loud level of output. In that respect, it's fine.

You may post whatever numbers you like, SPL doesn't impress this fellow... I leave that to people other than I... My system will barely reach 130's when I'm done, and that doesn't bother me a single bit...

I'll have my own commentary on the subwoofer soon enough, but please knock off the attitude, I don't even know you, don't see how you could think I'd be after you..

Yes, yes I know, sq guy, but why would you want to give up SPL when with this sub you can have a Great sq sub, with awesome SPL. As I stated in one of my previous posts, I admire your knowlege in car audio, and rate you one of the best on the forum, but I just believe that you are wrong on the W7. I have seen enough and heard enough to know that they are not worth the hype. I care nothing about anyone elses opinion on the W7, but hell i'd personally rather have about 5 W3s.

Really I think it's all install, I know guys that take Pyramid subs and put them in an spl sub, beat up $500 subs in an spl comp and then trash em' and replace them. But I trust that a comparison like what you're talking about has more controls than that.

1. Have you even heard a W7?

2. If so, did you ever ask what it was in? Was it properly aligned? What was driving it? What vehicle? What was the design philsophy?

Now on to resonant...

1. How can you say it has great SQ when you haven't even heard it?

2. How can you guarantee great numbers when you haven't even installed it?

A little bit of a premeditated and uneducated opinion if you ask me... You cannot base SQ off of another person...

You can say the driver is worth a thurough look, but saying it is great in the sound quality arena without even auditioning it is similar to buying a house without ever walking through it.

Remember, any fool can make a $1000 speaker sound like crap..

Just calm down Ranger, jlaine isn't trying to slam you or your stuff. I think that he, like the rest of us, would like to see what they really can do. The XXX vs ??? debate has been going for a long time before this, and when you get down to it, RE hasn't really done that well in the SPL scene. I know that everyone is gonna try and flame me for this and come back with a bunch of #'s and isht that they heard about, but they haven't. Maybe things will change now with the XXX being in production now, as more people start to play with them, but it remains to be seen.

I personally know the guy that installed the W7, and his installs are amazing. I have heard in, seen it ,smelled it, and guess what all three of them stink. I don't need an arguement, btu when have you heard it??? NO, then you need to give it an audition.
