What would it take to beat 4W7s??? Ramos, Bassma, Audiolife, Jlaine, JLman, Ranger???

Originally posted by indosia The only kicker L7's I seen were in my friends trunk hooked up to a phoenix gold titanium amp, until they blew as soon as soon as he turned it up... heh.. my brother has 2 12 inch kicker L7's and hits 153.4 db constantly in db drag, in the back of a explorer. never blown a sub, never had to do any mods after install... pushing it with about 3,000 watts.

all hail the mighty indosia ! he knows all, even knows whats not true. JBL amps arent reliable. :p i think Rockford has brainwashed him and told them to buy THEIR amps.

dam RF.

aRFFF !

Buying a fosgate amp is like gambling. One 400a4 might be 400 watts while another is 800 watts. You never know untill you open the box. So it's better to go to the shop and open all of them. JBL and Fosgate amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif . My subs are wired at .6 ohms. Not that I can hear anymore, I just hate the way it smells when an amp goes up in smoke in my trunk...

‘sup everybody…….I need some help. Ok…………there’s a ‘new kid in town’ (actually an old buddy of mine) who’s got a BMW ///M3 with, wait for it, 4 12W7’s each getting over 1000RMS (but he wont disclose what amp and they’re covered).

It’s a great install. The bass is tight, accurate and the system so loud it hit 150db+ easy. WITH THE ROOF DOWN WHEN WE WERE STANDING IN HIS GARAGE!!!!! We measured it, and no it wasn’t a radio shack meter.

In short, and I know, Im sure many of you will agree with me on this, it aint gonna b an easy task, what would it take to beat 4 12W7s in SPL AND, IMPORTANTLY SQ.

Im considering in no particular order -

1 RE XXX series

2 IDMax

3 Brahma (but these two are kinda similar in terms of abilities, arguably the ID just a little better on the SQ – anyone agreee/disagree?????)

4 Eclipse Alum DVCs

5 Beyond Audio

6 DD – but its gonna be difficult to do an SQ box I think for this one?

I think a suitable amp to map EACH of 2 (or does it have to be 4 – if I can beat im with 2 it’ll be doubly impressive considering how much each dman JLW7 costs) either –

MTX8100D or Zapco 9.0D class or MMATS

Any help from anybody will be greatly appreciated………please also feel free to suggest any makes I have missed out……………..

Yours awaiting help

JT

I'm gonna completely skip over the other 14 pages... lol I'm sure there have been plenty of heated comments, and I'm not in the mood for that.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

4 w7's in an M3.. I'm gonna assume they are sealed, if I'm correct in that, it shouldn't be too hard to design something louder.. the SQ part is gonna be tricky..

RE XXX -- I really can't comment on it, since I've yet to play with one. It certainly has enough travel, but could be hindered by a heavy quad coil (speculation)

IDmax... certainly a very nice sounding woofer, tbut it hasn't exactly wowed me in SPL type installs.

Brahma.. very nice sounding as well, with the most stroke (verified) of the bunch. Capable SPL driver, but can be a ***** to deal with the XBL2 motor...

Eclipse... you're stuck sealed with these, and you're not gonna stand a chance output wise... they sound nice, but certainly not SPL oriented

Beyond Audio and DD 9515.... midbasses on crack. Certainly loud enough, but **** near impossible to plot a nice low bass response I'm not impressed by their SQ, although many will argue they sound so good...

If had to do an install to match the W7's, I'd go the route of the Brahmas... run 2 15's, with around 8 cubes, and a 27-30 hz tune.. with a couple 9.0's he'd be wetting himself...
