What would I sacrifice with a setup like this?

I really like the look of this install, how the sub is inverted to show off the motor, is this more for "show" would I sacrifice sound doing something like this?

With it in the trunk, you won't notice a difference. If it were right behind you like in the cab of an extended cab truck, you might get an increase in motor noise.

as long as you account for the sub displacement being no longer inside the box and build accordingly, it works fine.

i built a single cab ported box for an alpine type e, and with the port coming out the top of the box, motor noise was noticeable and annoying.

i did it in a Nissan XTerra with a pair of ORION h2s and I didn't notice anything.
