What would be yalls setup if yall had 3k to spend on audio?

I'd either get an insane headunit like the Pioneer Stage 4 or an Eclipse sound monitor, or a combo headunit+DSP like a top of the line Alpine+PXA-H701 or Sony CDX-C90+XDP-210EQ, or something + Audison bitone, JBL MS8, whatever like that.

I'd follow it up with an older 4 channel amp to run an active front stage with about 100 watts to each channel, a 2 channel amp for the rear fill, and two 10" or 8" subs in a sealed box. Probably just some older Planet Audio subs and amps, then something like Alpine Type X comps in front, or something of similar quality, Type R comps in the rear

Sounds okay, but why buy & power such a nice subwoofer and run $100 component speakers? One of these days you'll realize that a proper front stage is more important than subwoofers, Slappin.
I highly disagree with you, misfit. The kid said he wanted A loud *** system, and there you have it. I simply gave what I would do, not you. The components will match up anyways with am external amp powering them. Get real.

eh, seems more complicated than it needs to be. Let's try and stay away from sony unless you like boss.

I'm sure they're okay, but they're $100 speakers. Spending $1,000 on bass and $100 on front stage speakers is NOT the way it's done. Not if you want more than a boom car...
He's 15. Wtf do you expect him to want? A sound quality car? He wants pounding bass. Besides, 100$ speakers can do alot.

No need to get pissy, dude. I've been doing this stuff for an awful long time. I know what I'm talking about...

You can build a loud system that sounds good, Slappin. And besides, if you want to get realistic, what do you think the chances of this 15 year old kid actually spending $3k are?
