What wire guage?

I was wondering what size wire I should use for wiring the sub to the terminal in the box? It will be getting 700rms tops. I have some 16 guage, is that enough?

Does it matter if it is twisted or not? What would happen to the 16 guage wire if I used it (just curious)? Also, where could I buy 12 guage from, besides online? Thanks

since you have 16 guage speaker wire, just twist the two strands together and attach. should be about the same as a 12 guage wire.

Jmac, to be realistic, shouldn't it be considered that (except for test tone burps) the wire's going to see 700w MAYBE 10% of the time?? Wouldn't, say, 1/2 that give us a better approximation?

Jmac - I emailed Perry with the problem.

He added a formula that accounts for circ mils/A.

Problem fixed.

As the site says - if you just let him know if you find a problem with his site he'll either explain it, or make the corrections/adjustments.
