What will make a box think its smaller than it is?

Polyfill makes a box think its bigger...so what will make it think its smaller?

My sealed box is too big so I wanted to make it smaller, I was thinking mayber I would through some towels in there or something to take up airspace. Will this work? Let me know what will!

A towel would act more like polyfill.

Screw some 2x4 pieces in or make a small box out of 2x4s and then screw that in. I once put some tin coffee cans in an enclosure to make it smaller and it worked decenyly but they would vibrate at some notes...

Whatever it is, make sure it's secure and not going to move around or vibrate.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have some spare pieces of 2x4 laying around I'm going to put some in there to the sound that I like then secure them. Thanks!
