What will I need to upgrade?

I've looked around to try and find a definitive answer to this but couldn't, so I will ask.

Currently I'm running 2 12" mtx terminator subs on 700wrms at 2 ohms. I've done some looking around and decided that I want to run 2 Sundown sa-12s at 0.5 ohm on a saz-1500d.. What (if any) upgrades will I need to make to my car's electrical system to do this properly? Currently running a stock 105a alternator with 4 gauge power wire to my amp.

At minimum......2 good batteries, upgrade to 1/0 wire for amp and big 3.

Recommended.....high output alt, 2 good batteries, 1/0 wiring for amp and big 3.

Why do you want to run at .5 ohm? There are better/safer ways to get similar power and a less clipped signal then running that low.

That's not a bad idea. No reason to run at .5. The sa's can take some power though I would recommend a 1500 at 1 ohm on them. There is a couple in the classifieds right now for a good price.

I agree with the 1500 @ 1 ohm. As long as you have a decent electrical, install, and enclosure you should be good to go.

just adding another battery might not be the right move. Alternator is going to have to work overtime to charge both batt's which causes premature failure. I would do a HO alt and upgrade batt under hood.

Yeah that's what I thought but I don't know if I would need a H/O alternator for only 1500 watts.. they seem to be pretty expensive.

Buy my two Sundown SA12's and Hifonics BRZ1700, I have a 47 AH optima battery under the hood and Big 3 in 0 gauge for electrical and the setup runs just dandy. Depending how how powerful your alternator is... you should be fine running 1500 watts.
