Some people say that they are a little overrated, but all in all they are supposed to put out near 1500w at 14.4.

now what if your alternator doesnt put out 14.4 volts.. will there be a significant wattage drop?

Depends on the difference of the amount of voltage.

well I believe my alt puts out either 13.3 or 13.6 volts..

almost all amps are rated at 14.4 volts. just assume its xxxx watts at 14.4 volts and go from there on what your needs are.
