What type of wood for 30W subwoofer enclosure???

As the title states. I practicing my box making skills by making a new box for my 6.5" HP computer sub.

The sub will only get 30W so i think using 3/4" MDF is excessive. So what is the cheapest type of wood that will get the job done in my situation?

1/2" MDF would work fine.

^x2...that'd be just fine to use 1/2" mdf

I think it's only like 5 bucks for 4'x2' sheet...so an enclosure like this will pretty much be free
