what type of solder

im about to do a hu install for my mom, and i want to solder the wires on the harness just to get a little practice. i have the iron, i just need to pick up the solder. what kind do i need?

Just about anything of reasonable size....Are you talking about wiring the harness on the deck to the aftermarket on the car with solder???

the thinner the better, in my experience

the bulk 1/4lb. rolls are cheaper, but the 1/8lb. coils in the clear container are thinner, and work much better for wires

Rosin core solder all the way. If you can get some silver alloy solder, it provides the "best" transmission of signal as possible but at a cost. And like they have said, get the smaller stuff. Try to get 0.020", 0.025", or 0.032" solder.
