what type of port would you go with?

I am building a box for 3-10" REx10" subs @ 3 cubic ft (total)

not sure what type of port to go with

1) slot port w/ 45sq inch of port

2) 2-4" areo ports = ~24inchs of ports

2) 3-4" pvc ports= ~37 inchs of port

3) 1-6" aero-~28inchs of port

now i heard that when using areos you don't need to have as much port area. is it ture?

kinda wanting to go aero's so i can easily change the tuning.

The only thing with aeroport (generically), is that they lack the ability to fully control the response of the output and rely strictly on resonance tuning. This, with the wrong driver, can cause tremendous peaks in the response. But only if certain factors exist. Other drivers work very well with them. But that is the flawed variable, that not all drivers can be manipulated with the response using aeroports. As far as tuning factors with smaller area, its not because its smaller, but due to the vortex effect that allows for lower port mach levels than a slot port with corners that trap sound pressure. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

LOL nice. No, not saying go sealed. Saying other vented options with the slot port is more versatile than an aero. But again, if the driver like the aero, by all means. It has to be calculated though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The type of port also depends on the amount of space you have to work with. The length of the port needed will vary with each port style you have listed. I chose to run my ports externally so I could still use my trunk a little.

For 3 cubes and 33hz tune you will need:

31.6 inches of port length for 45sq/in port

10.46inches of port length for 2 4in aero's or subtract 1" for a non flared (pvc)

28.17inches of port length for 3 4in pvc's

19.93inches of port length for 1 6in aero

The slots can be folded/wrapped around the box to achieve desired length, but too many bends create friction and can rob output and create port noise

You can also use elbows to bend the aeros or pvc's
