What type of amp?

I am new at this, so not sure what I would need. I am thinking about going with a single 10 or 12, 300-500 watts (not sure what sub). I was also thinking about getting a component set for the front. I would like to run the sub and component set off the same amp. What type of amp would I need to do this (assuming a certain number of channels), and do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

Can anyone suggest a amp that would put out 500 watts at 1 or 4 ohms to my 2 subs and also power components? Thanks.

If you want to have an amp to power your subs, and your components, then you are looking for one thats really efficient and pricy. I would stick with the amp you got, and getting a 4 ch for the comps. Make another box if you want better output out of the subs, as the 100 watts is not going to be noticeable.
