I have a 1990 chevy 1500 reg cab truck. it has a bench seat. what can i do for new, bigger speakers (6*9) and subs. only want to spend around $400. please help.
TRY a custom box for about 150.00 full length wedge box with divider , two tens or twelves, and about 120 watts a side amplifier . You can pick up a AMP online for 150.00 or so, Stick with a good name brand. And I saw CRUNCH 12 inch subs for 32.00 on sale at onlinecarstero.com ,under the Hot Deals tab at the top of the page. They look like a decent driver. Good luck . OR there is always E-bay.
Im not to fond of 6x9's in any thing .They generally are'nt as acurate as a good 6 and tweet. This is one area that I wouldnt scrimp on for quality. Your mids and tweets are the heart of your system. leave the 4x6's alone you can upgrade them later.
I have a 1998 Chevy C1500 truck which is similar to yours . I replaced the front speakers in the door with a set of round 6 1/2" alpine's and the as for the 4X6's I replaced them with a set of clarion 4X6 plate speakers which had a removable tweeters and put them in the upper rear corners of the cab . I also added 2 10" MTX 6000 subs and a rockford 800.2 amp . The subs are in regular old wedge style truck boxes . The system sounds pretty good . I still need to do a little sound damping . Hope this helps . If you got any more questions jut let me know and I'll be happy to help .
