What to do with subs 13w7 or 12w6

Port it. You will enjoy the 13W7 more. Those things get monsterously loud by themselves. Sealed is best used if you want good tonal quality or are going for over powering the sub for SPL. Out of curiosity, what vehicle is this in and what's the amp pushing the sub?
You use a sealed for overpowering a sub for spl? I've never even heard of a sealed in a competetion. I'm a noob though

A speaker will be able to take more power in a small sealed enclosure, but that does not mean it will not handle the same power in a ported enclosure. Those W7

s are some troopers, it should handle that power in a ported box all day long..

Check again... JL recomends using sealed for SPL applications with the W7.
No. As all manufacturers, they have sealed alignments that are suited for SPL, SQL, and SQ. Each different box will yield a different response. Normally the smaller box is going to have a higher peak in the upper frequencies. There fore gaining an SPL boost. As crude as that sounded lol.

But to generalize it as an SPL box or for SPL is wrong. A ported box is simply meant for SPL over a sealed box.

Just because a manufacturer will recommend a smaller box for SPL, does not mean small sealed boxes are SPL oriented.

FYI.

No, he has "experience."

I don't think he thoroughly understands what you're trying to convey.

Whatever man. I know this information from experience in setups with the W7. I believe the information you are going by is just what you hear about other speakers. The W7s are underrated, and in a sealed box, very underrated.
:talktothehand:
the W7 sounds like shit sealed anyway. you wont get nearly as much out of them as what they can do ported.
