What the hell is a line driver?!?!?!

Pretty easily. I've done it everyday for about 8 years now.

Yeah I like a challenge also, but not that big of one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I'm from the early 90's of car audio and I'm just too dang stubborn to not run the products from the guy's who helped make the world a better place when car audio was in it's golden years. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think it's great that everyone has their own kicks, god speed. For me, I remember when the world champs were running

- Rainbow (or focal) mids

- ART amps

- Audio Control processors

- Waveguide horns

- Aperiodic membrane's to their JL subs (back when JL made a real sub that did it all)

..................and won every dang competition out there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif As my avatar suggests, I'll believe until I die that "Old School" has yet to be topped in sound quality and I believe as long as blue neon head units and built in 30 band eq's are chosen over the raw amps of yesteryear being smoothed out by Audio Control processing - I'll always feel good about running the good stuff I grew up on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's pretty easy really. I just got rid of my EQTs because they no longer fit in with my system design. Unfortunately AudioControl is still stuck in the 80s as far as the system layouts that their components fit into. I'm not sure why anyone would not run time alignment these days, unless they are not into SQ, and if you are running any kind of acitve setup, it quickly becomes prohibitively expensive and takes a prohibitive ammount of space to use Audiocontrol EQs.
I have an IS300 and the trunk is TINY. I know all too well about your valid point of space. I just had to make room for them though. There is nothing in my personal system that would make me need to swap as long as I can fit it in there.

(Mcintosh double din, A300, A300.2, A600.2, AX400, XS2, EQT's.)

Clean and simple so they work very well for me. It's definitely a person by person basis. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

(PS- the 80's rocked //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

I don't remember anyone running JLs aperiodic. I remember the USD and the Image Dynamics aperiodic setups. I also don't remember anyone running Focals back then. I remember MB Quart and a/d/s. Focal was late to the game. Of course I'm also thinking back to before the Art Series amps even came out.

If you really like old school, then you picked the right brand to stick with in Audio Control given that most of their designs haven't changed since the early '90s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

You can't improve on a perfect product. It doesn't work for everyone because not everyone has the ideal space, but that's not audio control's problem... it's yours //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif The rest of us will rock it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As long as we are talking car systems, no one has a perfect space or anything resembling it. No amount of analog processing is going to make it any better either.

I love old school equipment as much as the next guy as my amp collection would demonstrate, but once you get away from amps and move on to signal processing, the old school stuff is truly outclassed by some of the new digital processors. Digital crossovers can give you much steeper slopes without the phase shifts inherent in analog setups. Add in time correction and a 5 or so band parametric EQ (all the bands you will likely need once TC is applied to good speakers) and the old stuff just can't hang.
