What the hell is a line driver?!?!?!

If you hook a Line Driver up.. Headunit -->line driver-->amp.

Head Unit sends a signal to Live Driver. Depending on the Headunit.. 2-4volts(example) and then increases that signal up to 5-9volts(example). Giving the amp more volts from the headunit.. thus giving a little more power.

At least, thats my best describtion.

BTW, I have one for sale. lol

no just a cleaner signal, less noise

if you dont really have noise, i wouldnt suggest getting one, they do serve their purposes in some places though

a cd player with 4v preouts can be the exact same loudness as a cd player with 6.5 or 8

The preamp signal voltage being increased will not increase the amp's power output. The amp creates whatever power it creates. /story.

A higher input signal voltage allows for the amp to make better use of that preamp signal at a lower gain setting.

Can also be used in vehicles with a longer run of cable. For example, I did a 40 foot bus and when I did the total distance between the deck to the amps were 55ft. I used a linedriver to boost the voltage so when the signal got to the amps it was still showing 5 volts.

What I use my line driver for:

I have .2 (as in 2 tenths) of a volt out from my HU, as a result of never going higher then 45/60 on volume, and never turning bass past 0dB on HU.

My line driver takes that weak signal and boots it to 5V. Thats what I have it set at.

My RE 12.1 now only needs the gain to be turned almost all the way down to get what I want out of it.

Thus, the amp uses less power, becuase it's not working as hard to amplify the already weak singnal. This way, less heat, and overall less amperage draw, which my amperage available is limited.

Pics of this?

Of what, the Bus? No becuase it wasnt much to look at. An amp rack in the bagage compartment under the bus and 2 4 channel amps running speakers. Then two over head 15 inch monitors connected to a DVD player. 32 speakers set up with one over each set of seats, that was a fun circuit to wire up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Everything was hidden though except for the monitors
