what subs get the lowest when sealed?

i think a 12 in 2 - 2.5 cu ft net on 500 watts will be fine.
also i don't want an 8 - 10 cubic ft box. lol won't really fit where i want to fit it.

im sure the ixl 12 will do just fine with that space and power... i'm just one of those overkill kinda people? i had 2 tempests back when i was 17 and when i changed setups i "donated" them to my parents living room, needless to say they don't share my passion for overkill either.

shiva-x(blue) VS. Dayton hf(yellow) VS. Mach5 ixl 12.2(green)

all were models up at a .688 qtc, and all were set at 500 watts input power.

the shiva-x looks like the way to go, with the dayton hf in second. the ixl models up a little strange, it requires a very small box to get the same response as the others, but it also wants a lot of power to get loud. the only thing that scares me about the dayton hf is the low x-max. i think i'd be pushing it to hard down low.

out of those 3 the shiva is the way to go.

umm better box maybe
she sounded really sloppy. it seemed like a one note wonder.
i blame it on the box though, even though i went exactly with treo's recommended spec when i made it. 1.75 net at 32 - 35 for a ten.

it probably would have done ok in a small sealed box. i was going to try it in .85 sealed but decided to just try something else.
maybe a better box hmmm

umm better box maybe
like i said i made it to treos specs. but i still also blamed it on the box. i wanted to try it sealed but decided to go a different direction. but yes, i think it was the box + the cabin gain in my car.

That sub will force you to buy a truck just to carry the box. When using this box size calc site:http://www.carstereo.com/help2/Articles.cfm?id=30

For a Qtc of 0.795 and F3 of 26 Hz, you end up with a Vb of 8 ft^3
then that calc is way off.

3.2 gets to a qtc of .7

**3.2 Cubic Feet (91L) with 50oz. poly-fill

This is the “Medium Sealed Shiva Design”. When you use a larger box the system gets a little more efficient at low frequency. This is a nice musical design with a Q = 0.7 and offers great extension and great output with modest power requirements. Figure on using 400-800W @ 4-ohms as a good guideline. Neither of these sealed designs has special amplification requirements. Anything with 250W or more will drive them to impressive sound pressure levels and there is no need for subsonic filters. If you are using a home theater processor you can use the High Pass filter included in the processor and any quality amplifier capable of driving a 4-ohm load.
