what subs get the lowest when sealed?

How low can your ears can listen? cause i got a couple of test tone that play on my sub and the lowest i can hear is around 30hz and up.

PPl have different defenition of low because most bass on songs are ranges from 40hz to 80hz if they get too low , regular speakers won't be able to reproduce it.

You want nice sealed box sub woofer . get a ML3000 from hertz. that thing is fast and never miss a beat. Also it can get really tight and punchy bass for certain techno songs that i often listen to . Its only requires 1.1 or 1.2 cu ft box so it wonot' take much space on your scion.

I am generally very anti large enclosure, just can't stand how much room they take up. So for me with those 3 you listed above the iXL looks great to me, was actually liking them before and now seeing that small of a box makes me really wanna try one out.

One to add to the list, and this is TOTALLY arbitrary with no hands on experience, but what about an Image Dynamics IDQ15v2. Looks like woofersetc.com still has them new but see them pop up used occasionally for around $120. Here is the spec sheet http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/pdf/iDQ15%20D2%20V2.pdf For a 15" sub they recommend 1.1ft^3 to 1.55ft^3 sealed.

Thats my 2cents, shouldn't take up your entire hatch area in your hunt for the lows and should sound pretty good while doing it. Again though I will repeat that this is all research and second hand info so I may be off, but I think it should be added into your hunt.

this is for ht, thats why it needs to go as low as possible but figured i'd ask here for the hell of it. also since it's for ht i'm not to concerned about size. i would build as big of a box as needed.

anyway...

my o-audio plate amp should arrive tomorrow. but for the time being, i got an old jbl sub in a roughly 2.0 net sealed box and have it hooked up to an old rockford amp i had laying around just to test things out.

took a quick scan, i'll need to eq 50hz out quite a bit, like 5-7db. but overall it extends pretty low. this is a 12" jbl sub in roughly 2.0 cubes net sealed firing right into the front right corner of the room. sounds pretty **** good with no EQ but the peak at 50hz is quite noticeable. once i get the o-audio amp i should have plenty of EQ to kill the spike.

looks pretty good right?

i will most likely be grabbing one of those Exodus Shiva-x subs and putting it in 3.2 net sealed in the near future.

Efficiency, low-end extension, small enclosure... you can have 2 of the 3, take your pick. And then chose the sub accordingly.
i'll take an order of efficiency and low-end extension please! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

anyway... the o-audio amp came in today and i got it mounted up and dialed in.

i have had a sub in this room before and it seemed like this was the best location to keep the bass up front w/o giving its location away. it gives a nasty peak at 50hz, i guess thats a room node that i have, but once i tamed it, it sounds very good and kinda disappears.

here are a couple pics of my setup. i didn't take any pics of the rears though.

the system also consists of a Yamaha RX-V2500 receiver, Infinity alpha 50 mains, the matching Infinity Alpha center channel, and a pair of HK bookshelves for the rears/surrounds. the tv is a Toshiba 30" wide screen HDTV.

the sub box doesn't look pretty but it's just a temp test enclosure that happens to work very well. i am very proud of how it sounds overall. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

next step is to swap out the sub with the Shiva-x, then i'll probably build a new slightly bigger box in the spring time. probably a 3.2 cu ft net sealed enclosure. 3.2 will give the Shiva a .707 qtc.

then that calc is way off.
3.2 gets to a qtc of .7

**3.2 Cubic Feet (91L) with 50oz. poly-fill
Oh, there was nothing wrong with the calc. It was pure operator error on my part. 2.6 ft^3 get yoy very close to the commonly used QTC OF 0.707 (0.7081)

I used the data for the Tempest-X, I guess.

The Shiva-X looks interesting, but to a less interesting price over here in Sweden, where they are not far from 300 USD.

according to more than a few reviews SI mag gets low like a pregnant ant stomach, to quote chris rock.
Fi Q, that shiva is mental.

whats that mean.

anyway, i just ordered a shiva-x. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It should sound nice. I am really impressed with the DPL-10 I'm currently running in my room. It gets louder than I ever need in my room and has enough output at 25hz to knock picture frames off of the walls in adjacent rooms. The exodus subs seem to be pretty nice quality.

i hope it sounds nice. i'm thinking it really should. i'm pushing the wimpy little jbl sub i'm using right now way to hard. she don't like the low notes. to little xmax. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

the jbl sub i'm using now came out of this: http://jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=P12SW&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA&cat=SUB&ser=PER
