What subs for my amp?

I just bought a kicker kx600.1 and now need 1 or 2 subwoofers. Please give any ideas. Would DVC 2ohm or SVC 4ohm be the best to get. Or should I get something else. Also if I can get some help with setting the crossover, gain, and bass boost.

also is it possible for the amp to go into protection because it is giving to much power to the subs? Because I know it is possible for the amp to go into protection if the ohm load is to low or if it is hot, but I have never heard of an amp going into protection because of giving to much power.

Thanks in advance and please help.

try a couple comp VR 12s? what are you looking for with subs SPL SQ, etc

and no your amp wont protect from sending too much power. thats what its designed to do.. give the power tis rated for at the ohm load its designed to. 99% of all protect lights are from low impeadences and shi.tty grounds.

what head unit do you have? gain depends on the voltage your HU gives. most people do it the simple way and turn the sub level all the way up.. head unit to max that you would generally listen to it.. and then slowly turn the gain up til you hear distorsion in the sub.

bass boost is up to you what sounds best i suppose.. dont go crazy with it though it can make your subs sound terrible.

crossover.. um.. low pass about 70-90 hz generally... and if you have a subsonic then youll only use that according to box type and specs (ported only)

I was thinking something better than the Kicker Comp VR's. I want something that pounds and is not too bad with SQ. My amps birth sheet said 730W RMS. Any other suggestions.

I have a stock 05 Honda LX headunit. Where would I find how much voltage my headunit gives. I also have a high low converter. Does that fall into the equation too.

Also what would be the problem if the amp keeps on turning off when the gains and bass boasts are up. They are not up all the way. Less then 3/4 each. My power and ground wire are 4ga. The subs were in a 2ohm load. 2 DVC 2ohm subs in series to make 4ohms each then in parallel to make 2ohm mono load. My amp claims it is 2ohm stable. Sometimes even when I turned the bass boast up it would turn off. What could be the problem.

How about an RE SE? Or an ED O series?

Sounds like you may be clipping the amp, with the bass boost. Generally, you should leave it flat...

SS RL-p 15?

anbd odds are 3/4 is too much gain.. my friend had his up at 1/2 and blew his subs 2 times and the amp 3 times boefre he realized his preouts were 5 volt and the gains were supposed to be at more liek 1/4.. 2 volt is usually abotu half.. most lower model head units are 2 volt.. i cant say i would have any idea for stock head units though.. btu get an oscilloscope to set them if you want it correct without guessing..
