I just bought a 50 foot roll of 14 gauge from Fleet Farm for like $15. Perfect for any size of speaker, and I figure I can just double it up if I get a high powered sub in the near future. It's cheaper than buying it by the foot. But I suppose it depends on where you get it.
Just be careful at hardware stores....I've heard of some wire that was sold at Home Depot or Lowes that turned out to be bad. It had no polarity markings and corroded badly.
