I'm ready to pick up a single Alpine type X 12' sub for a good price but the salesman at the store was trying to say that it wouldnt sound good in a 1.5 cu. ft. box. I dont understand, the alpine site says 0.75 - 2.0 cu. ft. for a sealed box. I tried to say this but he said it just doesnt sound right and the box needs to be bigger than 1.5 cu ft.

Does anyone know or have experience with was size sealed box sounds best for a Alpine Type X 12? For what its worth it will be powered by a alpine1005 amp. 1000w rmx @ 2ohms.

Looks to me like a 1.5 cu ft box would be fine for that sub. I am sure Alpine has done more testing on that sub than the salesman you talked to. If you don't like it you can always play around with some different size boxes later.

Yeah i was like laughing in my mind but didnt wanna make a move with that guy.

So does anyone have experience w/ a 1.25 cu ft box? Obviously ill be running it to max power at 1000w rmx from my amp. Should the 1.25 fly or should i go bigger?

honestly its depends on how cheap you can get it. a DD2512A ported in 2 cubes tuned to 32 will smoke that woofer sealed and sound great doing it. they are definitally cheaper than the type Xs also.

Paying $300. I currently have a Type-R 15' running at 500w at 4ohms. But since i have the Alpine1005 amp id like to run that at 2ohms and 1000w. Fitting the Type-x perfectly. I'm a bit concerned it might be TOO loud.
