For what vehicle ... SUV's, sports cars, luxury rides, pickups, so on and so forth ...

For looks on my car, I prefer 19's actually, but the price of 19" wheels and tires is more than double that of 18's, and wheel styles are severely limited.

I would've liked 20's on my car but didn't want to risk it not fitting/having to lift the car and paying the extra costs for the tires. I chose 18's and they're awesome.

I feel like Jmac, but...wrong section.

As for wheels, it depends on the vehicle, but I don't generally like wheels over 20". I've just seen way too many examples of 22's and above that don't fit the application at all. IMHO a nice set of aftermarket wheels is supposed to complement the rest of the vehicle, not be the end-all of it.
