What size fuse????

Ok, I have two amps...one calls for a 30A fuse on the power wire and the other calls for a 40A fuse on the power wire. I currently have a Stinger 100A circuit breaker that failed to trip when it needed to (it's ooooold). I want to replace it with an inline fuse holder. I am running 10-12' 4 ga. from the battery to the distro. block and from there, it is short runs (less than 8") of 8 ga. into the amps.

Would an 80A inline fuse be sufficient?

Would replacing the 8 ga. from the distro blocks to the amps with 4 ga. help or make any difference?

Id run 8Awg from the batt to the Disrto block

I'd put an 70/80A fuse upfront..

I would also use a Fused Distro block & have a 30A fuse inline to the amp that calls for 30A & a 40A for the amp that needs a 40A..

The amps each have their own fuses in the chassis...one 30A and one 40A.

I am running 4 ga. power wire about 10-12 feet.

This puts my current carrying ability at 150 A for the wire.

So, should I fuse it up front with a 100A and fall under the max. carrying capacity while still exceeding the total fuses on the amps by 30A?
