What he said. The amp at 2 was over 80% eff. the amp at 1 is way less. Pulling more current to make the same power
Yes if you have the battery reserve to handle the peaksSo I would be okay with a 3100 and an alternator that idles at 100amps and peaks at 200amps or what would the rating need to be? Sorry about all the questions, haven't had to worry about this issue yet.
this this THIS......LMFAO... sounds like my wife. i snuck and bought a 220a alt.... she has no clue lol130 amps is all the alternator I have, and wife is complaining about how much I am already spending so I am trying to go the cheapest route.
Thanks, this sounds like what I was hoping for, I know that I tested my voltage and it dropped to 11.1 on real low drops.also i wasnt going to chime in but some one did.... lol.... i was running a 2200rms @ 1 ohm on a stock 100a alt & 2 sh1ty batteries. neither amp nor sub got hot. been running it that way since i got this blazer. you alt is bigger then mine so i dont see why you wouldnt be ok with doing a big 3 and just add that xsd3100 or whatever in the back and leave your stock batt up front. .. but thats just IMO.
i know the feeling lolforeals my wife can spend like it's water, but me it's like a canteen in the desert, got to conserve and ****
mine stayed above 12.5 most of the time at idle with 1/2 gain, i usually dont run it full tilt less im at a comp. daily i dont go over 1/2 gain but none the less it was still a stock alt. with system full tilt & enigine at 2k rpms im usually at about 12.7 -12.9 the lowest ive seen is 11.9v and that was with truck at idle on a really hard hitting note. just make sure you watch your voltage. i have a digi voltmeter wired at amp so ill know what the amp is seeing. i havnt installed the new alt yet but i should see VERY little volt drop with it. but for you, it should be fine. i dont see it dropping to 11.1 any more. Thanks, this sounds like what I was hoping for, I know that I tested my voltage and it dropped to 11.1 on real low drops.
