what purpose does bass knob serve??

really? interesting
then you would need a DMM attached so that way you can know that you wont overturn your gains and blow the amp?

And would you still set the gains on the amp itself?
well thats why i had it all the way up when i set the gain on the amp with the DMM the first time.

interesting..

so it is like you have 2 different sets of gain settings?

and what difference would it make if it was a bass knob or a gain knob?

the way i understood is that, it was controlling the same gain on the amp that i set on the amp initially. But i don't know, it didn't blow the amp so:confused:

that is exactly why i never used knobs cuz i never understood it so i always have preferred to set the gains on the amp and leave it alone

I have one on my RF T1500-1bd, its the PEQ knob. I was told it just enhances the frequencies on the amp. I use it when some songs cant pick up the kick drum, specially on metal/rock.
i see that s cool

I LOVE remote bass knobs because they are the fastest, easiest way to introduce clipping and distortion into the subwoofer while at the same time producing mad deebeez!

With that said, I have NEVER used one because a bass boost @ 40 to 45 Hz means NOTHING to me!

any input on this?
Some "remote bass" knobs just boost a specific, predetermined, frequency from 0 to 15 or so decibels. It is usually around 40 or 45 Hz, but I have seen lower and higher depending on manufacturer.

Remote gain knobs allow you to lower or raise the actual "gain" on the subwoofer amplifier which in essence is like a secondary gain knob. It would really come in useful to bring life to old Led Zeppelin tunes;)

I just checked the kicker website and it clearly says the knob is remote bass control..

So I am thinking about giving it a try..

But I want to make sure of one thing, using the knob is going to be just like turning the gains up and down? or is it like using the bass boost? Because bass boost is supposed to be bad for your amp.. so which one will I be adjusting when I use the knob?

If it is going to be just like a gain then I will just go ahead and use it..

I can see that secondary gain knob can be useful.. I think I would like to use a knob if it was a secondary gain knob..

but should I even use "remote bass" knob that my kicker amp comes with?

I always got my fingers on my remote knob.

1) some songs just got too much bass....

2)cops... they heard you from miles. I little finger tip and i'm not guilty of anything

3)I'm not always in the mood for music at 140db

4)when you want to talk a little without dropping the music volume

5)red light or traffic. I have some respect !

I'm using the bass knob even more the volume one
