The longer you wait, the cheaper the C2Q's (Quad Cores) are gonna get mang. That proc is barely below $300 right now if you know where to look, but I'm holding out for the $270 mark(I believe they ship on the pallet buy the thousand at $266 each?). When the core drops to it's lowest, you can usually get the best steal on a prebuild - like a lappy.
P.S. WTF do you want a lappy? You can build your own rig for hundreds less for o0ber cheaper. Is it the couch thang? because if it is, I get that.

I would love a quad core assuming the ram could keep up.

I want a laptop because i dont like clutter. I also like being able to pick it up and take it with me whenever i travel. And yeah, it would be nice to sit it on the couch with me every once in a while.

Also theres the fact, that i know i'd be constantly tempted to upgrade my computer, then sit on my *** and play games if i built it myself. Took all my A+ Hardware classes back in the day so i've got the basics of it down. It's been a while though.

Way easier to do on a home brew than an off the shelf lappy mang..... (not that you don't already know that)

Windows XP, i dont really see any benefits to Vista at this point in time. Not remotely concerned about security.

The T7000-series processors have a 4 MB L2 cache, higher clock speeds, and a higher FSB.

i dont use it so i dont buy that. psshh

you can alway load bootcamp to run windows if need be.

if u want better video, then a Macbook pro would be the way to go but you'll be spending a tad more than $2k

i'd have to go mac book pro, and even then the 17" doesn't impress me that much.

i dont hate them, but the markup is ridiculous.

Make sure its a dual core, as much ram as you can get, and a fast HD, none of that 4,200rpm crap.

i'm wanting dual core, the 1.8ghz proc. are okay. 2 gigs of ram and atleast 1600x1050
