What kind of electrical setup will I need?

My car is a 1991 Honda Prelude and I'm going to be putting a AQ1200D amp and either a 13w7 or 12w7 (Don't hate me please)

What gauge wiring is recommended and all that good stuff. As far as I know all my electrical is stock which I'm thinking is no good but I have NO idea about this stuff.

Upgrade the battery, read the sticky on the big 3, and for wiring, you could get away with 4 ga for power, but Why not use 1/0. You may want to upgrade or do a dual amp setup later.

0 guage all around and put a optima, or maybe a batcap 2000

and see how the voltage is, if low, get another one for the trunk

Well my current power cables are really fat but i don't know their gauge size for sure.

stock is usually 4g or less. You should plan on using 1/0 for your amp. With that amount of power on a sub you'll shortly after want to install another amp to power a new set of front components to keep up.

And nothing is wrong with JL. They're good subs. You can just find better at a cheaper price.

Ya I know you can but I'ma stick to what I've heard, plus I'm not buying it new so it's all good. I'm going to be buying from a fellow board member.

0 gauge, big 3, and one rear bat... 1600 cranking amps at least, maybe a kinetik 1800, but personally if your already puttin out cash for an 1800, just snag the 2400 for extra reserve, should be good to go

Alright, I think my power cables are 0g but then little wires are attached to them before they are attached to the amp.

my current setup:

It's an old bridged alpine amp that's not that many watts all going to two Vega ten inch subs in a ported box but the subs are like completely sealed.
