What happened to the SKAR subs?

In my experience (doesn't mean much cuz everyone has a different setup and opinion) the skars had awesome low end and didn't offer much else. The sa sounded good but seemed to lack output on 1k compared to my type R, Tc 1000, and Memphis. Now this obviously doesn't mean much because I'm basing this off of my ears alone. I'm not saying the sa isn't a very good driver but it's definatley not the end all be all sub out there up to $250
