What happened to the bandpass hype?

Seems like there used to be alot more bandpass guys out there. My first system I had over 10 years ago was a Savard bandpass box with Hi Q 12's pushed by a"Real" Lanzar Opti amp & I loved it. Now I cant find any factory bandpass setups. What happend? BTW..I miss that box!

Umm - you grew up?

The reason the chain stores sell band-pass enclsoures like they're going out of style is because when all you care about is being loud and cheap bandpass is the easiest way to accomplish it.

A couple 12's in bandpass with a couple hundred watts will get super loud, but sound like crap, and have a usable freq band of only 30 hz or so.

Once that becomes obvious - the "bandpass guys" turn into "ported guys".
