What gauge?

Im going to run 2 amps in my car using a distribution block. What gauge power cable should i use from the battery to the block? The amps claim that 4 gauge cable needs to be used to power them so does that mean i go 2 gauge from battery to the block and then 4 gauge to the amps? or 1/O gauge from battery and 4 gauge to amps?

Yes, it depends on actual current draw. But unless this guy is talking about like dual 3.5 kilowatt amplifiers, 1/0 is ridiculous overkill. Even 0ga is overkill most likely. It takes alot of power before you start needing 1/0 power cable.

Plus, most car audio cable connectors/fuse holders/etc only go up to 0ga, going bigger means headaches. Telling this guy to run 1/0 for two amplifiers is ridiculous. Does anyone look at a wire sizing chart any more, or do they just spout off 2 sizes bigger than necessary, just in case...?

Again its easy telling other people to spend more money than they need too, isn't it?

ok so how does 2 gauge from battery to block and then 4 gauge from block to amps sound? Im running a 4 channel and mono block amp with a combined wattage of 1500watts RMS..

With that you would probably be OK with a single 4 gauge going back, but if it were me I would go with a single 2 gauge and then in the rear have it distribute to the amps using 4 gauge. Make sure and use 4 gauge grounds also. I know a guy running a DD M3 (2700 watts + RMS) with 4 gauge wire with no issues.
