What gauge speaker wire do I need?

I am running Boson SL60 components in my front doors from a Rockford 325.2 punch amp that's going to be underneath my seat.

What gauge is best? Is there a point of diminishing returns (such as, "there is absolutely no difference for your application between using 14 or 12 gauge.")

Also this is off topic, but if you can help please do. I ordered a Rockford 325.2 punch amp from crutchfield and when I tilted it by my face I could hear something inside shifting about 1/4 inch or less. I complained and sent it back. I got a new one that does the same thing. I contacted someone selling this on ebay and he said it was the "terminals" shifting inside. Is this normal? What the **** is that about?

I just called the place that is going to install them and they said they are going to use 16 gauge wire. Is this worth fighting over for 14 gauge? Would there be any difference?
