What Flush Bit do you guys Use?

Is there an advantage to using a 1/2" shank or a 1/4" shank? All of my bits I use are 1/4, but my router accepts 1/2 normally without a collet...just wondering if there's any advantage to doing bigger with the shank size?
A larger diameter shank tends to vibrate less, thus producing a smoother cut.

Most of the time though, a 1/2" shank is only used on bit's with larger heads mainly for supporting the additional weight and stress caused by the bigger cutting head. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I went the cheap ebay route. 60 bits for like $30. Oh and a $20 porter cable spiral upcut bit.

The ebay ones are not the best quality but I don't use them a lot so they work fine for me.

Thanks for the info.

HD should have a Porter Cable 3 bit set for around $40 as I picked one up not that long ago...
I'll check that out today...

I normally use a 1" Freud flush cut that a local tool supply store sells. It's seems to be a nice quality bit for under $20.

I recently picked up a 1/4" straight and a 1/4" flush cut bit with 2.5" long cutting edges from eBay. I haven't used them yet, but hopefully they work well for sub cut-outs and flush trimming ports on double baffles.

The red bit is the 1" Freud, and the yellow are the 2.5" eBay specials

I picked up a Porter Cable one from HD a few days ago and it works great...makes everything look so much nicer now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I got the 1/2" and 1/4" spiral upcut flushtrim whiteside blades from woodcraft. Was hesitant to pay that much for them but they have outlasted any other bit I have bought for the same purpose.

And the Harbor freight bits work fine if you only have one project, but after that one project ( and i hope its a small one) you might as well go ahead and throw them out before the bearing flys off
