What electrical upgrades.

Run what you got at full Tilt and see what your voltage is. If it is near or under 12.5, get a High Output Alt from Mechman and see where you are with the batteries you already have. To me it makes no sense getting 2 or 3 group 31 batteries to substitute a weak alt. You will come out about the same anyways. I would go with a bunch of batteries ONLY if you cannot get a HO alt for your car.

Ranch is a cheap *** that is always looking to cut corners. I won't say don't listen to him, but IMHO I do not want my system running in the low 12s at any time. Might be fine for him as well as others, but not me. But eah, run what you got and see if your lights are dimming on the low notes. If they are, you got work to do.

I think you will do fine with your stock alt. I say get about 3 g31 batteries and you will be good!
The rule of thumb is, for every 1000 watts, you add a battery. With that set up you should be fine.

Your alternator is probably the Ford 3G which is O.K. for what you are running.

Makes sense.

I will be doing the Big 3 for sure. Its already done in what looks to be 4 ga if not larger. The run from the front to the rear where the amps are will be 0/1 Knu Flex wire.

A run of 0ga. would help also.
If you're only doing 1200 watts, you don't need a high output alternator.

Isn't current what you should be looking at when deciding what alternator is necessary?? I'm a newzy but I don't see why it's only watts and no focus on the current the amp draws? IE my amp is pulling about 1500 but has a 250 amp draw, thus i need some mo****ing upgrades

grp 34 sitting on top of a grp 31( i decided to google it myself after i had asked )

250A on a 1500 watt amp? you must have some serious f***ing voltage drops. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Well i did some measure under the hood. The largest batteries i can fit in each spot is 8x8x13 If the battery is shorter i can go a bit wider. Looks like i will be able to fit some of the grp 31 batts under there if needed with some massaging.

allow me to rephrase... my sub is being built on thursday, so on thursday yes I will have some serious ****ing voltage drops. Funny thing is that in the Fosgate manuel is says many stock electricals should be fine with the amp, and some may need to add a deepcell. So I'll probably give it a try, have to turn it off because I cant handle it and go find a yellow top or a powermaster d3400. Or I could always throw a 2nd battery in the trunk which would open up my options, but i would rather keep my trunk as open as possible (sub is going in the boot of my trunk)
