What do you think of this budget setup? Alpine/Hertz/Hifonics/JL

ive never understood thepeople on this site. you understand internet pricing has killed the industry you all love? A guy wants to have his install done at a shop( where he gets a warranty) for nto much more than he could buy the equipment for online. wheres the issue? has everyone in this thread tried all the equipment he posted or are you just going by what you read on teh internet? makes sense since every install of the same equipment( even in a different vehicle) will sound the same.

thank you

there is nothing wrong with purchasing used equipment online at all. Its the purchase of new equipment from places like woofers, onlinecarstereo and dealercostcaraudio that has retailers closing their doors left and right and screwing this industry and the people in it.

but you have to also admit that a lot of these shops that open up with zero knowledge about car audio is one of the reason that people are going elsewhere and doing their research and has lost trust for shops.

I don't like the amp choice or the sub choice. I'm not a fan of Alpine decks either, but it'll work. I build my own boxes so if you have power tools, you could probably build your own as well. what other brands are available at the shop u are buying from

the bottom line here is, if the issue is Really saving some money then, you would do the install yourself. it's not rocket science. the only thing that doesnt fit into the weekend warrior diy is the box. he isnt looking for earth shattering results. buy a 4 gauge amp kit, buy everything online have the shop make the enclosure and call it a day. awww the poor shops are losing business waaaaa? heres an idea, find a line of work that a 16 year old cant do with his/her eyes closed. now, if this guy was wanting a set-up that he was going to compete with then yes, a shop has more leverage here and is a better choice but, he wasnts a simple upgrade... a total diy job.

i dont work in a shop so im not talking out of both sides of my mouth, like some people... who preach warranty from one side while they get everything @ cost from the other side.

You are great at talking out of your posterior. Id love to see you do my job for a week and still call it easy as I assureyou it is not. The op here stated that he understands buying online and made the educated choice to purchase from an authorized dealer your suggestions were a direct contradiction to that and you gave advice about a product about which you admitted to having no clue.

Pardon me for caring about an industry which pays for the food my son eats. Ever hear the phrase "do what you love?" Well this is what many of us love and its hard for us to see that taken away by people with less than honest business practices while we work so hard to do thinks the right way. So take a second to put yourself in the shoes of a shop owner trying to pay the bills and losing so much business because people are transhipping and internet retailers are selling product at 5 points over your cost.

I know there are a ton of hack shops out there and retailers with outrages prices and no knowledge but you must realize that not everyshop is like that. Its like calling a class of 30 kids stupid because 6 of the drink the paint water.

do me a favor, and yourself, and go reread his post(s) the only mention of a warranty is that the comps come with a 3year. it isnt a highlight nor does it come across as if that was the selling point for him on those comps. it was listed casually nowhere does he state im going through the shop because everything has a warrany. in fact he says the only reason is because he doesnt feel like doing it himself and he cant make the enclosure. this is where i SUGGEST just **** it up shop online and diy, let the shop make the enclosure.

just an FYI i've been an installer before, when i was around 18 - 20 piece of cake. better chance of me doing your job than you doing mine, believe it.
