What do you know about a 100% DD setup?

Lol your so stupid man I hated you from the get go.... Can't believe your a mod now. I paid $40 for my dust cap. Keep bullying me! Want me to take pictures of other audio equipment I have? Like my topping amps and fostex speakers. Get outta here'
Im stupid. Im not the one who lied about how much I paid for a dust cap.

FWIW I dont care what you run as long as you like it.

Also because it fits:

Lol you guys are funny. Find me a current company that uses the same copper, spiders, and cone as DD
Guess what. You can't! They are the only people who use us made parts. Which cost alooootttt more. But guess what. I'm giving my 4 1200 watt rated subs 2.2k each and playing it for as long as I wish.... Sometimes 30 minutes at certain car shows //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Only reason you guys think it costs so much is because you go off the msrp off their website. And only dummys pay msrp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
the paper cones and dd's spiders **** ***. the coils are way to heavy for my taste as well. I do still like the subs though

As much as I despised my DD 1515, I once heard a single 3510 in a Honda that completely took my breathe away. I didn't think it was the cleanest sounding sub I've ever heard, but man did it slam something ridiculous.

You are not serious, right?

Too bad they innovated the large magnet game with the 9500 and were copied ever since. Their us made speakers... The dust cap on or costs more to make than the whole recone kit for a AQ or sundown or dc at their cost
What year did they invent the large magnet?

You might be surprised at who else uses American made coils and softparts. I have American made coils, cones, and spiders and apart from the coils (I definitely prefer the made in USA ones) I've had reasonable results with imported cones and spiders. Also I've been making carbon fiber dustcaps and I can promise you it does NOT cost 80$+ in materials to make an 8" dustcap.

Where did you get the carbon fiber necessary to make them?

I wonder who did have the first large motored sub, I'm thinking soundstream is the oldest I can remember

edit: also DD cones arn't carbon fiber either, some have a CF laminate but not cf fullthrough.

CV Stroker was a really big motor in it's day. Dunno when Thilo came up with the 4hp, but that was one of the very early really huge motors (that was and still is the basis for a lot of the big boys)

I tried to look up what year they made the 95 but google came up empty for me.

eBay. If you use google you can find it a little cheaper in larger quantities. Pain in the arse to work with, not very forgiving and you should plan to blow a few batches before you get anything half decent looking. I would also advise against the Kevlar blended weaves. They look really hot but you can't cut the stuff with anything until you have epoxy on it so it forces you to work with the whole meter wide roll.

I guess since staying on topic isn't going to happen, I'll join this generic DD discussion.

The whole 'pioneered the large magnet game' thing is kinda pointless anyway. Who defines what a "big" magnet is? All subs weren't funky pup sized before 9500's came out.

My big problem with DD isn't their design style, their cone material, their ungodly tight suspensions, or even their prices. The negative for me with DD is their attitude about not publishing specs. They are a relatively small company that caters to non-mainstream car audio enthusiasts and SPL competitors. So to withhold specs, to me, is not only a pita for consumers, but a confusing and questionable business decision. xmax/xmech, fs, Qes/Qms, etc... these are all important specs for a knowledgeable enthusiast to know. I dont want to just build to their recommendation, or test multiple boxes Ive had to make just to get a clue what my alignment is/will be.
