Be patient. One piece at a time. Take your 350$ and buy a good HU. Build from there.You'll be happier in the long run. 350$ hu will last alot longer than a 350$ "complete stereo".

Sorry but I have to disagree. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's going to break. I have a 14 year-old Pyramid amp that has been put through more torture than I could ever imagine. It still rocks to this day. Ican't tell you how many pieces of "expensive" equipment I've had fail for no obvious reasons.

I feel this is a good buy for him. He's getting a complete system for $350. That's a steal. This will give him a good start on install techniques and a good general idea of what not to do on the next system. HE can still easily upgrade everything 1 piece at a time, yet all he'll have to do is unplug one component and plug the new one in. That way, he'll still have some tunes.
