What do you guys think?

I had 2 in my last car, They sound good and can take ALOT of power.

I like the idea of blowing my AMP first, before my subs.

For 120 bucks they arn't too bad of a price. At the same time I could consider L7's or Kicker Comps, but I've had the Type-R's before and was extremely satisfied.

OP, most people here are all about custom-built subs and/or smaller companies whose main goal is to make good-sounding equipment and not all-profit, plus so many people have that same sub that it just isn't really all that "cool" anymore.

The Type-RRRRRrrrr and that amp would be pretty nice though.

Thanks very much for your honest reply =] Really appriciated

I've found the same thing on this forum. If you mention mainstream brands, usually you're met with criticism and no helpful advice. Its like the custom Nazis come out of the woodwork.

If its not DC Audio, DD, Sundown, IA, or some other odd-brand...people won't help you with it. Not saying those brands are bad, just that they aren't as well known as the ones that have been around ~25 years.

That being said, the Type R's are a badass sub for the money. They get pretty loud and still sound good. Some of the higher SPL type subs might hit harder, but they usually sound like *** doing it. To get a good sounding sub that will hit higher SPL numbers, you're still going to pay $250 or more for a 12, usually. The good thing is, most of these "custom" brands are making subs that can take a LOT of power, have 3" Xmax and all kinds of crazy specs that weren't available even 10 years ago. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
