What do you guys think of this sub?

Its the Elemental Designs 13Kv.2 Subwoofer. Do you think this will do well in a ported box, I was reading that some subs do not and I dont know how to differenciate that. I am running it with 400 watts rms @ 1 ohm. Thanks in advance.

sure, all the ed subs Ive dealt with are versatile.. they wont really excell in a ported or sealed box, but do decent at both, know what I mean?

Do you think this is a good choice for a sub? Ive been doing alot of reading and they seem like a good choice.

where have you been doing your reading?
not here, lol

I like their products fine, Im currently running two of their 18" subs

its a user friendly, fairly inexpensive, decent performing sub, but its nothing really special, know what i mean?

many will comment on bad business practices by elemental, but most dont complain about the products, except for the deadening

What do you suggest that is similar but better?

this sub will be fine, I assure you

other options would be an fissd

kicker cvr or cvx

memphis power reference or m series

theres dozens

the ed k series is a **** fine entry level subs, but its not like you cant find another one very similar to it with ease

I have 2 of these subs in a sealed 1.2 cu/ft chamber box in my girls car ran off a JL 500/1 and they sound great . Ive ran JL w3v2's in this exact box/amp/car and the ED 13Kv.2's sound almost Identical in bass response and accuracy compared to the w3's . As for going ported with the 13Kv.2 you will yeild more spl output doing so, but your sound quality will slightly decrease . But hey , these subs are half the price of the JL's but will IMO will compete with them with out a problem so I dont see why not to buy . Great bang for the buck
