Ok i had two rockford fosgate stage 2 10's sealed up in my truck with a pg 600.2 on them. I needed more so i posted on here and was recommended soundsplinter rl-i 10's. i picked them up from tc sounds yesterday and dropped them in my old box and although they sounded ok, they were't even close to $320 worth of sound. Since i knew my box was a little too big, i thought maybe that was the problem. I spent another 150 and got a q-logic box with .65 cubes per sub. (optimal for the subs)

they improved slightly but i'm still very disappointed. The only thing they have over the rf's is sq. The spl is about the same, if not a little bit less. They have a much deeper tone but it seems to fall apart when it gets really loud. WHATS GOING ON????

check your gain setting on your amp you maybe getting clipping. also whats the rms of the rl-i's? if you are not running them at rms you may want to try to do that

rms is 350 and i am sending them right at 320 a piece. i'll check the gains though. maybe i messed them up during the install.
you got them sealed...i'd try porting them...maybe a bigger box. get ahold of mike @ soundsplinter. he'll tell you. but in that small of a sealed box, i doubt you get a lot af chest pounding bass...but...they will be exceptionally musical, as you already stated. i would say about 1ft a piece, ported to 30Hz.

and check the amp too. falls apart when you turn it up???? that kinda sound like a major clipping issue...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

and also....

pre-fab boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/spank.gif.0d78e34d42ea8780359e903aeb6697d6.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/slap.gif.87520e8ca8e90076ac30e777c0de5331.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/titanic.gif.8089b7552c370bcc138aa121756d0c0b.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gif

you might also wanna check to see if the box is all the way sealed up...

the only prob is that i am out in cali for only 4 months (3 left) and i really don't have access to anything to work with wood. Al and eds quoted me 250 to build a box. the new boxes fit quite nicely behind the seat they are the perfect height and length actually. i turned the sub level down and adjusted the gain on the amp and i think i have found a happy medium for them. They get about as loud as the fosgates but go wayyyy deeper. i spend 60% of my time in the truck watching for movies so i guess it'll work out. thanks for all the replies. and yeah, i know pre-fab sux but i really don't have much of a choice. i tried some of the local audio stores and all of them were kawks when i said i had soundsplinter. (apparently they were pissed i wasn't buying subs)

they seem to be seale up pretty good. i don't know what the problem is. i know they are getting a little more than 300 each and since they are rated at 350, i thought that would be enuff for them. i'm not sure where to go from here. Looks like i spent $500 and got rid of a perfectly good box and 2 stage 2 10's for a prefab box and some quieter, but moderately deeper subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

something is definately wrong. i wired one of them and tried to pound it. my pg will drop down to 2 ohms but it just uses WAY more current and produces about 150 more rms. so i have an rli-10 in a .65 sealed box with about 750rms on it and it sounds like shiat. it almost sounds like they still have a sticker on the back of the magnet. (that chattering) but i know it doesn't and it only makes that noise when i starts to beat a lil above normal. is it possible i got a bad set pf subs? its not exactly a bottoming out sound. its like it reaches a certain point of excursion (less than what i think it should be) and it stayes there and the chattering just gets louder.

WTF is going on??????

**** your scaring me bro. i was gonna buy two of those subs today. let me know what u find out. for one thing they are rated at a max of 500rms so that may explain why they werent getting as loud as your old ones. and now u said u put 750rms on one maybe thats just to much. i have a 9.1 im going to put 600 to each sub. if i get them now ill have to see what u figure out...please keep post updated

i got a video uploading right now. the same noise you hear in the video is what it sounds like in the truck. i DID find a small air leak on one of the boxes but since it sounded the same in the other box, i don't think thats my main problem.

the video is alice deejay - better off alone. 600-750 rms. volume at about half. maybe less.
